presents Opening Day!

WISCASSET RACEWAY PRESS RELEASE 5/3/08

OPENING DAY RAINED OUT AT WISCASSET

The rain wasn't supposed to hit the midcoast area until late Saturday night, but instead it arrived early midday and crashed the party at Wiscasset Raceway. A large turnout of drivers and crews packed the pits at Maine's Center of Speed for Lester Morse Auto Sales Opening Day with thoughts of grabbing the first checkered flag in a new season. Instead they were grabbing tarps and car covers with an hour still to go before the scheduled 2:00pm start time. Finally at 2:30pm, with the radar showing now promise of a break in the rain, track owner Doug White was forced to pull the plug on his opening day show. The rained out show will be made up later in the season on Sunday July 6th creating a double header program on Independence Day weekend on the 5th and 6th. The opening day festivities will now be rolled back to the next date on the schedule Saturday May 10th at 2:00pm sponsored by Unirugs - Powered by Joseph's Flooring. All six weekly racing series divisions will be in action highlighted by a 50 lap main event for the Clark's Car Crushing Pro Stocks. Pit gates will open at 9:00am with practice from 10:30am - 12:30pm. Grandstand gates open at 12:00noon with the green flag dropping at 2:00pm
