Ajay Picard
Ajay Picard is an average guy. He is 29 years old.
He works for Pike Industries. He lives in the small town of
Palmyra,
ME
with his two kids (Madison and Brody) and his wife (April).
Here is what separates from most guys his age. Ajay is the
driver of the L&P Racing number 22 in the Steel’s Real Rod’s
and Custom’s Late Model Division at Wiscasset Raceway. Last
year in 2008 the rookie driver had back to back 3rd
place finishes in his ride but things for Picard haven’t
always been that easy.
In 2002 Ajay started racing in
the Super Street Division at Unity Raceway. In the limited
number of races he ran that year he blew four motors. For
the two season after that not much changed. Ajay had bad
luck and continued to run on a limited schedule. Then in
2005 The Picard Racing Team came around. In his first full
season in the Super Street Division he won rookie of the
year, most improved driver and finished 3rd
in points. To prove to people it wasn’t a fluke Ajay went
out in 2006 and won 3 races and finished 2nd
in points after giving up the point lead to get married. In
2007 The Picards came to Wiscasset Raceway where Ajay drove
his father’s (Louie) car in the Super Streets.
In 2008 as was mentioned earlier Ajay started
driving for L&P Racing which is a team owned by Ajay, April,
Penny and Louie Picard as well as Glenn and Catherine Lewis
and has a fair amount of success. In 2009 Ajay will be
driving for L&P Racing again is looking to have some good
runs in the Picard’s Logging and Plowing and A1 Forest
Products Chevrolet. “You must first finish to finish first”
Ajay said about is the teams philosophy going into this new
season. Another thing that has Ajays blood pumping for 2009
besides the fact that for the second year in a row they will
be donating 10% of all sponsorship dollars and race winnings
to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital is that he is going
to be teammates with his dad. Louie Picard will be driving
the L&P Racing number 99 this year and he also looks forward
to racing against his son. Ajay would also like to thank the
rest of his crew. Derek, A.J., Danielle,
Mark,
Del,
Joney, Miranda, Todd, Dave JR and Rod.
